I have super dry, coarse and frizzy hair. I have been wanting a Keratin treatment for the longest time but found the salon prices exorbitant. This is the first product ever, and I have used hunde=reds, that has left my hair looking and feeling super silky and straight. It relaxes your hair better than a hair straightener without the damaging effects.

VERY IMPORTANT: One of the reasons that people don't achieve desired results from the treatment was because the flat iron being used was not able to reach and maintain a temperature of 450F. Please make sure the flat iron you are using is capable of reaching 450F and also consistently maintaining more or less that temperature. The temperature should be indicated on the iron switch or thermostat itself or the box it came in.
The treatment may be repeated as necessary to achieve desired results.

The first pic is from just a few days ago and the second pic was from 2012
At first I used the original formula. Then just about a week ago tried forte I think for the first time. It really works. Both products work for me and forte really gets the job done on my 3b curls. I noticed on day 2 after a bit if sweat, my hair stayed straight to my amazement!
I took a break for a year and my curls came back....Can't find the pic of my curls but they are about 3b. As I keep using it, my hair becomes straighter.
About the usage amount...
...Years ago, I started doing it every month then every other month to a point I only did it every 3 month. Then so on.
As a user who has used this product for such a long time, if it doesn't work on you consider these things:
* Your health and the health of your hair. Hair health is important. Eat right so your hair gets nutrients. Take vitamins and do oil treatments if you can.
* Your body chemistry. This product isn't FDA approved and everyone's body runs differently. If this product doesn't work for you, don't be so quick to assume it's faulty. There could be something wrong with your hair or your body just doesn't like it. Plenty of people including myself have been loyal to this product. You know there are fumes and protential risks. Don't be surprised. Get some menthol cough drops and a fan.
* Buy a new flat iron. It doesn't need to be expensive. It just needs to reach up to 450 and stay that temperature. Get a flat iron that has a digital reading so that if it doesn't hold the 450 temp you'll know. It's so important because you won't get the results you need if you don't.
* Really clean your hair beforehand. You can use even Dawn because it was used on animals to rid them from oil. Oil is a problem in this case because it's blocking the treatment. Your hair needs to be sqweeky clean. Yes it will sqweek if it's properly clean. Again, use dawn, body wash (without conditioners, oils or moisturizer), or clarifying shampoo. They all work the same but you can't go wrong with clarifying shampoo. If your worried about tangles, use a detailing comb under the water starting from the bottom. It really works.
* Is your hair dry? Make sure you are putting product on completely dry hair. When you go to flat iron, the hair needs to be totally dry.
* Take your time! If you are in a rush, don't do this treatment. You need to take small sections and go over it until the fumes disapate. Watch TV or listen to music if that helps.
*Wait 3 days! No matter if I use the original or forte, I wait 2, 3 or sometimes 4 days. Do not use dry shampoo unless it's the day to a few hours right before you can wash. I have the best results waiting it out. It's taken you all day to do this treatment and you suffered through the fumes. Don't risk losing your hard work and just wait it out. It's not going to kill you.
* Use enough product too! I use enough to the point that by squeezing my hair, the white stuff comes out. Of course I remove most of the excess globs. Then comb through again to make sure it's covered using a small tooth comb. Yes, you might shed but it's not alarming. If you shed more than normal, this product just isn't for you. There was a time I wasn't eating and very stressed. My hair fell out but once things changed it all grew back.
* Wait longer than 30 minutes. It might sound excessive but you want results right? Then insure your success by waiting an extra 15 to 30 minutes.
* Whenever your blow dry, make sure it's as straight as you can. Do it gently starting from the bottom. On the first run it will be hard because you have to shampoo without conditioner. You still have to take your time and do it by sections. On the second run, it's a bit easier but the fumes. Suck on a menthol cough drop. You're welcome!
You might find yourself sweating while blow drying or flat ironing your hair. Take breaks, use the cook setting in spurts, or get a fan by you to keep you cool. You don't want any moisture on you during this treatment.
* Protect while you sleep. Use a silk pillow. For me, I don't care if there is a slight wave in my hair so I wrap it with a silk scarf and still use a silk pillow. Just make sure you don't find yourself sweating while you sleep. That would be a nightmare.
* Don't get it on your skiiiiiiiiin! It will burn and can make you sick. It happened to me when I had mine done at a salon. Idk what product it was. Some parts of my scalp burned because it was accidentally scratched by the comb. Try not to do this while combing the product through.
If it gets on your skin like your arm or something, just whipe it up. If you scratch your scalp and it burns, it's up to you to keep going. The burn goes away (unlike the one done at the salon, lasted days) after you have flat ironed. If you brave it out, you'll have good results and the burn will have faded. If it's too painful, wash out immediately and wait a week to try again or don't.
Lastly...
* Don't put anything on your hair afterward. This might sound weird but keep your hair in just the treatment. Adding anything especially moisture or water to it (rain, fog, shower, sweat, lotions, oils, etc) can mess up all of your hard work. If you absolutely MUST, you can apply argon or coconut oil to your ends only about 1 to 2 inches.
